Values

We at Hendrick Seeds look for mutually beneficial opportunities with the growers and the buyers. We listen to their concerns and suggestions for improvement and address them in order to build strong relationships and raise the International Reputation for Excellence of Eastern Ontario’s Best Soybean Producers.

In order to build and maintain long-term relationships, we feel that responsibility and accountability play a central role. We accept responsibility for preserving the identity of the seeds that we process. That is one reason why “Hendrick Seeds’ IP Traceability System” is among the first to be certified by the Canadian Grain Commission.

We pay attention to growers’ and buyers’ concerns and therefore, in return expect accountability from them. The Food Quality Responsibility Curve starts with the customer and trickles all the way down to the grower. In other words, if the end customer is not happy with the final product, he questions the retailer, the retailer questions the manufacturer, the manufacturer questions the distributor, and so the chain ends at the growers’ doorstep.

We constantly review IP protocols with the Grower community and work with the buyers to add value to Soybean varieties. We organize growers and buyers meetings so each side can express its views and exchange opinions. This way we plan our future together.

The Food Quality Responsibility Curve

Focus on the Future

We have our eyes set on the future. We believe that the future export growth is not just simply increasing the volume, but it is also about adding value. Whether it is soy flour, soy milk, soy puddings, soy proteins or soy isoflavones, the objective of adding more value holds more promise for the future than simply conditioning and shipping whole beans.

Obviously, this direction is capital intensive and challenging, but Hendrick Seeds needs that challenge, and maybe with some convincing, our partners will respond positively.

In the immediate timeframe however, while this longer-term initiative gathers momentum, Hendrick Seeds will continue to acquire specialty soybean varieties and to develop exclusive business protocols with selected customers.
