We at Hendrick Seeds are committed to supplying its customers with Identity Preserved seeds. We comply with the IP protocol through Planting, Production, Harvesting, Processing, Storing, Transporting and Auditing stages. • Planting Phase Only Selected Growers are required to grow identity preserved soybeans on pre-selected farms. They ensure that the selected fields were not planted to any soybeans in the previous year. All the planting and harvesting equipment is thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to planting and harvesting any IP seed variety. The IP fields are inspected and verified for weed control, isolation distances and variety description by inspectors during the growing season. We and our growers maintain detailed farm maps and crop history for the fields. ![]() • Harvesting Phase All harvesting, transporting and conveyance vehicles and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to harvesting an IP crop. Growers submit a representative sample to Hendrick Seeds from their seed harvest. • On Farm Storage All storage bins/silos are mapped, thoroughly cleaned and inspected before storage of all IP seeds. Identification tags indicate dates filled, the kind and variety of contents, crop year and name of the sampler. ![]() • Transportation All conveyance vehicles/equipment are thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to loading. Truck Cleaning Certificates are completed by truckers for each load of IP seed transported. Truckers also receive “Hendrick Seed’s Traceability Certificate” with information of Kind and Variety, Lot#, Bin#, Growers’ Name and Date. • Elevator Receiving and Storage Hendrick Seeds and all contracted elevators will have an IP and/or a Canadian Seed Institute Approved Conditioner Manual that details the full IP procedures for receiving, storing, processing and loading. Incoming loads are accompanied with a “Trailer Identification Tag” as proof of IP status of the crop. All conveyers/pits/legs are cleaned prior to receiving IP crops. Each incoming load is sampled and details such as growers’ name, kind and variety, etc. are recorded on a Receiving Slip. Growers’ name, tonnage and destination of the bin for each load is traced using weigh slip numbers. ![]() • Processing Phase Conveyers/augers/legs are cleaned while transferring different IP varieties and different crops. All processing equipment is thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to processing an IP crop. • Loading All vessels/trucks are inspected and cleaned as required prior to loading and a “Truck Cleaning Certificate” is filled out. A “Container Condition Report” is also completed prior to loading containers. We ensure traceability of the IP crop by assigning one or more grower names to each outgoing container, according to the order in which the beans were delivered. ![]() • Audit Standards The Canadian Grain Commission has presented Hendrick Seeds with Canadian Identity Preserved Recognition System for having a quality management system that meets the requirements set forth in the Canadian Grain Commission Quality Management for Identity Preserved Programs Systems Standard for contract production, processing and shipment of IP products. ![]() 2. Non – GMO Soybeans All varieties that are sold under the Hendrick Seeds IP protocol, have been developed by Canadian plant breeders who have employed only conventional plant breeding techniques. All Hendrick Seeds’ varieties are therefore categorized as Non-GMO (i.e. free from genetic engineering). Both the grower and the processor assure their customers that they have kept these soybeans, identity preserved and variety specific, during the stages of production, harvesting, handling, processing, containerizing and shipment. We guarantee our customers that any soybean variety has not been genetically modified through biotechnology procedures to add traits. We carefully select varieties, locations and growers to produce the highest quality beans acceptable to the Japanese markets. We continue to invest in farmers’ education about the latest agronomic advances such as application of organic amendments and seed inoculation to help them produce the best quality beans. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||
