Research

videoHendrick Seeds is focused on short-season (early maturity) food grade varieties designed to meet human nutrition and health needs while being developed for production in short season regions (2950 – 2300 crop heat units).

Ongoing Research Fosters Ongoing Results

We help growers, processors and exporters remain relevant in an evolving international global marketplace. Hendrick Seeds is engaged in multiple collaborations with local and international scientific/academic communities - our Plant Breeding Program has earned worldwide recognition.

Our research program employs a network of collaborations with research communities extending from North America, to Japan, China and Europe. Collaborative research and research partnerships have resulted in Hendrick Seeds building a considerable bank of Non-GMO soybean germplasm lines. This germplasm bank provides Hendrick Seeds with enormous resources to drive its breeding program. The partnerships have also provided Hendrick Seeds with access to leading-edge plant breeding technologies and methods. For example, we engage in collaboration to discover new gene markers related to targeted traits.

Hendrick Seeds' approach nurtures many collaborative relationships and a high integrity process to develop superior product that addresses market needs:

  • with growers to guide our research with respect to agronomics performance and yield requirements; this enables us to select the best agronomic lines for commercial development and release.
  • with customers and end-users in the marketplace to fully understand their uses, desired traits and required nutritive benefits.
  • with soybean researchers and research institutions in Canada and around the world to develop beans using Non-GMO practices and a Food as Medicine ideology.
