Our philosophy of “Food as Medicine” is a whole food approach to improved health and nutrition wherein Hendrick Seeds develops soy varieties offering enhanced health and nutrition benefits to meet the demands of functional and healthy food manufacturers.
The direction for our Food as Medicine focus comes from the marketplace. An example would be soybean isoflavone which has approved health claims in Japan for bone health. These allowable claims and health benefits drive demand for soybean isoflavone in healthy or functional foods. Hendrick Seeds is focused on developing lines that offer increased concentration of these healthy compounds in soybean, for example, high isoflavone lines. As manufactures benefit from offering healthy food traits, Hendrick Seeds will develop and supply the varieties required by producers and exporters to meet this demand.
